Past exhibition:
Puedo ser una Pelota
at PELOTA Gallery
November 18, 2023– December. 18, 2023
29 Avenue G, San Francisco, CA 94130
"Puedo Ser una Pelota" marked the inaugural exhibition at PELOTA Gallery, hosted by Bay Padel, the new padel and pickleball club. Curated by Florencia Montefalcone, this exhibition brought together artists Alberto Hamonet, Valentin Gattica, Andrew Sungtaek, and Florencia Montefalcone herself, each exploring the theme of games and balls through their unique artistic lenses.
Hamonet, a recent MFA graduate from UC Davis, captured the essence of life spent in pursuit of the perfect hit. Gattica, an Argentinian painter based in San Francisco, reflected on the social and cultural impact of balls in Argentine soccer culture. Sungtaek, a renowned Bay Area artist and nephew of elite professional pickleball players, explored the transformative power of play. Montefalcone, a textile artist from Argentina, examined the harmony between passive and dynamic contemplation through ball sports and teamwork.
The exhibition invited viewers to contemplate the essence of embodying a ball—always ready to play—celebrating the universal allure and significance of the ball as a symbol of shared experiences and cultural connections.

Art transports. It taps gently on the cracks in our reality until they splinter, falling away in fragments to reveal a world beyond. The artists in as you summon other worlds capture this moment – of crossing boundaries, of peering into alternate universes, of communing with unseen forces – in ways language never fully can.
Florencia Montefalcone (Buenos Aires, b.1991) is a multidisciplinary artist with a deep-rooted passion for performance, photography, and textiles.
Her work delves into the intricate realm of women's image creation and portrayal, shedding light on the construction process and the profound impact these representations have on our self-appreciation and perceptions of success.
With a strong advocacy for feminism and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of authenticity, Montefalcone's artistic practice serves as a powerful voice for societal change.
Her creations encompass unique hand-painted silk and woven garments, each bearing the essence of empowerment and individuality. By challenging societal norms and embracing the limitless possibilities of self-expression, Florencia invites viewers to join her on a journey of reflection and reimagining the narratives that shape our lives.
